Darren directs Hummingbird Lawyers’ Civil Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution practices, offering over 12 years of litigation experience specializing in business/commercial litigation, covering shareholder and partnership disputes, oppression remedy actions, contract disputes, and employment matters. In addition to business/commercial litigation, Darren acts for clients in general civil litigation matters including real estate litigation, commercial leasing and construction disputes and lien claims, land claims, mortgage enforcement, franchise disputes, injunctions, and appeals.
In addition, Darren applies his extensive litigation experience to alternative dispute resolution through well-honed techniques of mediation and arbitration in an effort to achieve efficient and cost-effective settlements for clients with a minimum of conflict.
Darren has appeared before all levels of the Ontario Courts, including the Court of Appeal and Divisional Court. He has also appeared before the Federal Court, administrative tribunals like Ontario’s Labour Relations Board and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and boards of inquiry. In addition to his appearances before the courts, Darren has presented at continuing education seminars on a number of topics including employment law and civil procedure.
